
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, May 30: Confusion has been spreading among women beneficiaries regarding the Annapurna Yojana, under which applicants are required to fill a 12-page form to receive financial assistance. Addressing the concerns, the Chief Minister on Saturday assured that people would not face difficulties in completing the process.
She said, “Do not be disturbed. Do not get confused. Those who are unable to fill the forms, our workers will go door to door and help them complete the form filling process.”

The Chief Minister inaugurated the programme from Bidhannagar Hospital, marking its rollout across West Bengal. On the same platform, she also addressed the ongoing discussions surrounding the Annapurna scheme and provided clarifications.
The Chief Minister said that registration under the Annapurna Yojana has already begun and the first phase of financial assistance of ₹3,000 will start being transferred from Wednesday. She urged people not to pay attention to rumours or misinformation related to the scheme.
Explaining the reason behind the detailed and lengthy application form, she said that the government wants to ensure that benefits reach only genuine beneficiaries. She added that the administration does not want non-eligible persons or non-citizens to receive the funds. She also emphasized that the scheme is designed to prevent misuse, including cases where funds meant for women were allegedly being accessed by men through bank accounts.
She further stated that those found violating rules in earlier welfare schemes have already faced legal action, and the government remains committed to transparency and discipline in implementation.
The Chief Minister reiterated that every commitment mentioned in the government’s manifesto will be fulfilled step by step, assuring that the benefits of all promises will reach only the rightful beneficiaries as intended.
