Discomfort to Rise in South Bengal with Heatwave, Heavy Pre-Monsoon Rain Forecast in North Bengal

IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 2: Since the beginning of June, the heat and uncomfortable weather have been steadily increasing in South Bengal. The Alipore Weather Office has stated that there is currently no possibility of rain in South Bengal. On the contrary, over the next two days, temperatures in various districts may rise by another 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, the sky will remain mostly clear in Kolkata and other South Bengal districts, and due to the intense sunlight, heat and discomfort will continue.

Giving some relief to the people of South Bengal midweek, the Weather Office has indicated that on Thursday and Friday, several districts may experience thunderstorms accompanied by rain. As a result, temperatures may drop slightly, providing temporary respite from the heat for the general public.

The forecast from the Weather Office, pre-monsoon rain may begin from Tuesday in northern districts such as Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri. On Wednesday, there is a possibility of strong winds reaching 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, along with thunderstorms and rain in Darjeeling and the other five northern districts. From Thursday onwards, rainfall in North Bengal is expected to increase further, with intermittent heavy rain continuing throughout the week.
