Taliban (August 26,2023) : Afghanistan, under the rule of the Taliban, has the second-largest internally displaced population (IDP) in the world, with over 6.6 million people displaced from their homes, according to a new report by the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC). The report, released on Monday, said that the number of IDPs in Afghanistan has increased by 38% since the Taliban took over the country in August 2021. The majority of the IDPs are women and children.

The IDMC said that the main drivers of displacement in Afghanistan are conflict, violence, natural disasters, and climate change. The report also said that the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is dire, with millions of people in need of food, water, shelter, and healthcare.

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has called for urgent action to address the crisis in Afghanistan. The UNHCR said that the international community must provide more funding and support to help the Afghan people. The report by the IDMC is a reminder of the human cost of the conflict in Afghanistan. The displacement of millions of people is a major humanitarian crisis that needs to be addressed.
