The most promised time to perform the Raksha Bandhan rituals is during Aparahna and which is the late afternoon according to the Hindu division of the day. If Aparahna is not posibble, the next best time is Pradosh, which occurs in the early evening. It is important to avoid performing Raksha Bandhan rituals during Bhadra and a period of considered inauspicious for any auspicious work.

Rituals of Raksha Bandhan

1)Preparation of Pooja Thali: Arrange a simple pooja thali with essential items including an oil lamp (diya), vermilion powder (roli), grains of rice, sweets, and rakhi.

2)Aarti Ceremony: Begin the ritual with an Aarti, where the sister waves the lamp in circular motions in front of her brother.

3)Tilak Application: Apply a tilak of roli on the brother's forehead as a symbol of auspiciousness.

4)Tying the Rakhi: Gently tie the rakhi around the brother's wrist, accompanied by heartfelt prayers for his success and well-being.

5)Exchange of Gifts: In response, the brother gives gifts to his sister, demonstrating his affection and commitment to protect her.

6)Celebration and Bonding: The ritual creates a sacred atmosphere, enhancing the sibling bond and highlighting Raksha Bandhan as a celebration of love and protection.

Significance of Raksha Bandhan 

Raksha Bandhan symbolized the protective bond between siblings, with sisters tying a Rakhi (sacred thread) around their brothers' wrists as a mark of love and protection. In return, brothers pledge to safeguard their sisters and often give gifts or money. The festival strengthens familial ties and celebrates the spirit of togetherness and commitment.
