IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Uluberia, June 13: The 2021 West Bengal Assembly election post-poll violence cases, Trinamool Congress councillor Nirmal Yadav of Ward No. 4 of the Uluberia Municipality has been arrested. Police from Bauria Police Station arrested him from his residence on Friday night as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged incidents of violence that took place following the declaration of the election results in 2021.

Police and local sources on Saturday, the arrested councillor is professionally a primary school teacher. Apart from his role in public office, he also holds an important organisational position as the president of the Trinamool Education Cell of the Howrah district primary schools.

The police launched the operation on Friday night while intensifying their probe into the post-election violence that reportedly occurred in the area after the 2021 Assembly poll results were announced. Investigators are continuing to examine the allegations and the alleged involvement of individuals linked to the incidents.

The arrested councillor is likely to be produced before a court on Saturday, where the police may seek his custody for further questioning and investigation. The arrest has already triggered considerable political reactions in the local area, adding a fresh chapter to the ongoing debate surrounding the 2021 post-poll violence cases in West Bengal.
