Siliguri (August 29,2023) : Sukanta Majumdar, the newly elected president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal, has promised to resolve the infighting within the party after the upcoming by-elections. Majumdar, who was elected unopposed on August 23, said that he would hold talks with all the factions within the party and try to find a way to unite them. He said that the BJP could not afford to be divided if it wanted to win the next assembly elections in the state.

The BJP has been plagued by infighting in recent months, with several leaders openly criticizing each other. This infighting has been attributed to the party's poor performance in the 2021 assembly elections, in which it won only 77 seats.

Majumdar said that he would also focus on strengthening the party's organization in West Bengal. He said that he would appoint new district presidents and secretaries and would hold regular meetings with party workers. The BJP is hoping to make gains in the upcoming by-elections, which are being held in four assembly constituencies. The party is confident that it can win at least one of the seats, which would be a major boost for its morale.
