IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Hooghly, June 18: The connection with post-poll violence, police have arrested a key accused from Bolpur in Birbhum district.

Indrajit Roy, also known as Haru, has been arrested in relation to allegations of post-election violence. He is the husband of Ruby Das Roy, a Trinamool Congress councillor of Ward No. 20 of Bolpur Municipality.

Police said that Indrajit Roy was arrested on Thursday from Balagarh in Hooghly district by officers of Bolpur Police Station. He is also known to be close to Trinamool leader and local MLA Chandranath Sinha and had served as the town president of a labour wing organisation of the party.

The arrest is linked to an incident that took place after the 2021 election results, in which allegations were made of an attack and vandalism at the house of Milan Santra, a resident of Ward 20 in Bolpur Municipality. Based on this complaint, Haru has been taken into custody, police sources confirmed.
