Kolkata (July 14,2023) : In an exclusive interview with Anandabazar Patrika, BJP's candidate for the Rajya Sabha election from Cooch Behar, Ananta Rai, said that he would speak for the whole country, not just his constituency.

Rai, who is the Maharaja of Cooch Behar, said that he was "humbled" to be chosen by the BJP to contest the Rajya Sabha election. He said that he would use his position to "speak for the development and welfare of the people of Cooch Behar and the whole country." Rai said that he would focus on issues such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. He said that he would also work to "strengthen the BJP's presence in West Bengal."

Rai's interview comes at a time when the BJP is trying to expand its base in West Bengal. The party has been making inroads in the state in recent years, but it is still far behind the Trinamool Congress in terms of popularity. Rai's candidacy is seen as a sign of the BJP's ambition in West Bengal. The party is hoping that Rai's royal lineage and his popularity in Cooch Behar will help it to win the Rajya Sabha seat.
