IIE DIGITAL DESK : South 24 Parganas, March 24 — The shocking and mysterious death of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker has triggered widespread tension in the Raidighi area of South 24 Parganas, raising fresh political concerns in the run-up to elections. The gruesome discovery of the victim’s body on Monday night has intensified allegations and counter-allegations between rival political parties.

The deceased has been identified as Kishore Maji, a 37-year-old resident of the Mena area under the Dighirpar Gram Panchayat in Raidighi. He was known to be an active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and reportedly held the position of vice-president at Booth No. 216 in the locality.

The victim was allegedly lured out of his home on Monday night after receiving a phone call. His body was later recovered with his throat slit, pointing to a brutal act. The nature of the injuries has led investigators to treat the case as a suspected homicide, although the exact motive is yet to be determined.

Law enforcement authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the incident and have already detained three individuals for questioning. Among those detained are the victim’s wife and the neighborhood, suggesting that investigators are also exploring the possibility of personal disputes being linked to the crime. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain further details.

The incident has quickly taken on a political dimension, with the BJP alleging that the murder was orchestrated by members of the All India Trinamool Congress. Party leaders have termed the killing a politically motivated act aimed at intimidating opposition workers ahead of the elections.

The Trinamool Congress has strongly denied the allegations, asserting that the incident is not politically driven but rather the result of a personal dispute. The party has accused the BJP of attempting to politicize a criminal matter for electoral gain.

The area remains tense, with a heightened police presence to prevent any escalation. Authorities have assured that all angles, including political rivalry and personal enmity, are being thoroughly examined to bring those responsible to justice.
