IIE DIGITAL DESK : Vivo has officially announced that its eagerly awaited foldable flagship, the X Fold 5, and the compact yet powerful X200 FE will be launched in India on July 14, 2025 at 12 PM IST. Both devices will be available through Vivo’s official website and Flipkart, marking a major moment in India’s premium smartphone space

The X Fold 5 makes a striking debut with a grand 8.03" 2K+ LTPO AMOLED inner display and a 6.53" 120 Hz cover screen, both capable of reaching up to 4,500 nits brightness—ideal for gaming, media, and outdoor use . When folded, it measures just 9.2 mm thick; unfolded, it thins to 4.3 mm, and weighs a mere 217 g, making it one of the lightest book-style foldables globally .

Powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with up to 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB UFS 4.1 storage, it promises top-tier performance . The 6,000 mAh battery supports 80 W wired and 40 W wireless charging, ensuring rapid refuels .

Vivo has turned to Zeiss optics for a triple 50‑MP camera suite: a Sony IMX921 main sensor, a Sony periscope telephoto lens, and a Samsung ultra‑wide module. Dual 20‑MP selfie cameras grace both the inner and outer displays. The device is built to last, featuring IPX8/9 water resistance, IP5X dust protection, carbon-fibre hinge rated for 600,000 folds, and operational resilience down to –20 °C .

The X200 FE sports a sleek 6.31" LTPO 1.5K OLED display with a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate—uncommon in this segment . It meets high durability standards with both IP68 and IP69 rating, ensuring robust protection against water and dust.

Equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset, it comes with up to 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage . A powerful 6,500 mAh battery supports 90 W fast charging, delivering impressive endurance and speed .

The rear features a versatile triple-camera setup: a 50 MP primary shooter, a 50 MP telephoto lens, and an 8 MP ultra-wide, all with Zeiss tuning.  A high-resolution 50 MP front camera is ideal for selfies .Running on Android 15 with Funtouch OS 15, Vivo promises up to three OS updates plus four years of security patches .

The X200 FE will debut in Amber Yellow, Frost Blue, and Luxe Grey, while the X Fold 5 is expected in Titanium Grey, with a possible white finish later on .

China pricing for the X Fold 5 starts from around ₹83,800 (CNY 6,999), scaling up to ₹1,14,000 (CNY 9,499). Considering import duties and local taxes, assume India pricing may fall between ₹90,000–1,20,000. The X200 FE, expected in the ₹50,000–60,000 range, offers flagship camera and battery specs at a more accessible price point.

Vivo’s simultaneous release of the premium foldable X Fold 5 and feature-rich X200 FE shows a bold betting strategy on both the ultra-premium and upper-midrange segments. The X Fold 5 answers Samsung’s foldables with lightweight design, rugged build, and flagship hardware. The X200 FE brings high refresh-rate OLED, powerful internals, and Zeiss imaging in a durable, compact form.
