IIE Digital desk: In light of the recent Puja Khedkar incident, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education (UPSE) board has announced significant changes to its examination system. The overhaul aims to enhance transparency and integrity, utilizing advanced technologies such as AI surveillance and facial recognition.

The Puja Khedkar case, which exposed severe lapses in the current system, has prompted UPSE to take decisive action. Moving forward, AI-driven surveillance will be implemented in examination centers to monitor activities and detect any irregularities in real-time. Additionally, facial recognition technology will be employed to verify the identity of students, ensuring that only registered candidates are allowed to sit for the exams.

UPSE officials emphasize that these measures are designed to restore public confidence and uphold the credibility of the examination process. The revamped system is expected to be in place for the upcoming exam season, offering a more secure and fair environment for all students.

The UPSC has recently issued a tender inviting bids from experienced public sector undertakings to develop two technological solutions: "Aadhaar-based fingerprint authentication (or digital fingerprint capturing) and facial recognition of candidates and QR code scanning of e-admit cards" and "Live AI-based CCTV surveillance service."
