UP Minister Asks People to Stop Eating Tomatoes to Bring Down Prices
Lucknow (July 24,2023) : A Uttar Pradesh minister's remark that if people stop eating tomatoes, the prices will come down has sparked a debate. The minister, Suresh Rana, made the remark while addressing a gathering in Meerut on Monday. He was responding to a question about the rising prices of tomatoes.
Rana said that the prices of tomatoes are high because people are eating too many of them. He said that if people reduce their consumption of tomatoes, the prices will come down. Rana's remark has been met with criticism from many people. They have accused him of making insensitive and irresponsible remarks. Some people have also pointed out that the prices of tomatoes are high because of factors such as a shortage of supply and high transportation costs.
