Kathmandu (June 19,2023) : The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has decided to ban the screening of all Hindi movies in the Kathmandu Valley from Monday, June 19. The decision comes after a dialogue in the upcoming Hindi movie Adipurush, which is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, sparked controversy in Nepal.

In the dialogue, actor Prabhas, who plays the role of Lord Ram, says that Sita is "India's daughter." This has angered many Nepalis, who believe that Sita is a Nepali national hero. The KMC has said that the ban is necessary to "protect the sentiments of the people of Nepal." The ban will be in effect until the dialogue is removed from the movie.

The decision has been welcomed by many Nepalis, who have been protesting against the movie since the dialogue was released. However, the decision has also been criticized by some, who say that it is an attack on freedom of expression. The movie Adipurush is scheduled to be released on September 10. It is directed by Om Raut and stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan.

The ban on the screening of Hindi movies in Kathmandu is a significant development. It is a sign of the growing tensions between India and Nepal over the issue of shared cultural heritage. The ban is also a reminder of the importance of freedom of expression.
