Guwahati (August 29,2023) : The flood situation in Assam has worsened, with over 2 lakh people affected in 22 districts. The Brahmaputra and Barak rivers are flowing above the danger mark in several places.

The worst-hit districts are Barpeta, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kamrup, Karimganj, Morigaon, Nagaon, and Nalbari. Several roads and bridges have been damaged, and communication links have been disrupted in many areas. The authorities have evacuated people from the affected areas and shifted them to relief camps. The army and NDRF have been deployed to help with the relief and rescue operations.

The government has also announced a compensation of Rs. 6,000 for each family affected by the floods. The Meteorological Department has forecast more rains in the next few days, which could worsen the flood situation. The flood situation in Assam is a matter of concern. The government and the authorities are working to provide relief to the affected people. However, more needs to be done to prevent such disasters from happening in the future.
