Trinamool's drama will continue for a few more days, says Dilip Ghosh

IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 5: Senior BJP leader and minister Dilip Ghosh launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress on Friday, claiming that the ruling party’s “drama” would continue for only a few more days. Speaking to reporters in the morning, Ghosh criticized the party in the wake of the arrest of Swarup Biswas, saying that the development reflected a larger pattern of wrongdoing within the Trinamool Congress.

Referring to Swarup Biswas, Ghosh alleged that individuals like him had been involved in numerous offences over the years. He claimed that fear had prevented people from speaking out against such activities in the past, but that the situation was now beginning to change. According to him, ordinary citizens who had remained silent for years were finally finding the courage to come forward and lodge complaints.

“Swarup Biswas and people like him were involved in countless crimes. Earlier, people were too afraid to raise their voices, but now they have started speaking out. Hundreds of FIRs will be filed against them. The drama of the Trinamool Congress will continue for only a few more days. The party is heading towards its downfall, and the sooner that happens, the better,” Dilip Ghosh said while taking a swipe at the ruling party.

The remarks came amid growing political controversy surrounding the arrest of Swarup Biswas, the brother of former West Bengal minister and Trinamool Congress leader Arup Biswas. Swarup Biswas was arrested by Kolkata Police from New Alipore on Wednesday following allegations of misconduct and extortion.

Complaint had been lodged at New Alipore Police Station accusing him of inappropriate behaviour towards a woman as well as involvement in extortion-related activities. After the complaint was registered, the police moved swiftly and carried out the arrest.

The incident has triggered a fresh political confrontation between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the opposition BJP. While opposition leaders have used the arrest to question the law-and-order situation and the conduct of influential figures linked to the ruling party, the development has also intensified political debate across the state.

The matter now under investigation, all eyes remain on the legal proceedings and the political fallout that may emerge in the coming days. Meanwhile, Dilip Ghosh’s remarks have added further fuel to an already heated political atmosphere in West Bengal.
