Mamata Banerjee Takes Control of Bhangar to Quell Political Violence
Kolkata (July 27,2023) : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has directed the Kolkata Police Commissioner to incorporate the Bhangar area in the Kolkata Police area. The move comes after a series of political clashes in the area, which have left six people dead.
Bhangar is a part of the South 24 Parganas district, but it is located just outside the Kolkata Police area. This has made it difficult for the Kolkata Police to maintain law and order in the area. The Chief Minister's directive is seen as a way to bring the area under the direct control of the Kolkata Police. This is likely to help to reduce the number of political clashes in the area.
