Kolkata Municipality Faces Challenge in Preserving Old Trees
Kolkata (August 02,2023) : The Kolkata Municipality is facing a challe nge in preserving old trees in the city. Residents have complained that trees are being cut down as soon as they grow too big, and that businesses are encroaching on sidewalks and preventing the planting of new trees. One resident of Baliganj said that a krishnachura tree near her home was dying because its trunk had been pierced by a railing. She said that she had complained to the municipality, but nothing had been done.
