IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata | July 30 : The part of a long-term development initiative centered around the historic Tribeni Kumbh, administrative officials on Thursday carried out a comprehensive inspection of 17 Ganga ghats under the jurisdiction of the Bansberia Municipality. The inspection was conducted with the objective of preparing a detailed infrastructure development plan aimed at transforming the region into one of India's leading religious, cultural, and heritage tourism destinations.

The inspection team included the local Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) along with representatives from various government departments responsible for infrastructure, tourism, urban development, and public services. During the visit, officials closely examined the present condition of each riverside ghat and evaluated the facilities currently available for pilgrims, tourists, and local residents.

The team assessed a wide range of aspects, including the existing infrastructure, public safety arrangements, riverbank protection measures, lighting facilities, cleanliness and sanitation, availability of drinking water, public toilets, seating arrangements, accessibility for pilgrims, transportation connectivity, parking facilities, and emergency response services.

Apart from reviewing the present condition of the ghats, officials also explored the long-term potential of developing the area into a major tourism hub capable of attracting visitors from across the country. The administration believes that with planned infrastructure upgrades and better visitor amenities, the historic Tribeni region can emerge as a prominent destination for religious tourism while preserving its cultural and spiritual significance.

According to administrative sources, the findings of the preliminary survey will form the basis for preparing a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR). The report will outline the infrastructure requirements, development priorities, and implementation strategy necessary for the overall transformation of the riverfront and surrounding areas.

The principal objective of the proposed development plan is to create modern, well-planned infrastructure around the Tribeni Kumbh while maintaining the area's historical and religious identity. Officials said the project aims to establish Tribeni as one of India's foremost centres for pilgrimage, cultural heritage, and spiritual tourism by providing world-class facilities for devotees and visitors.

Administrative officials emphasized that the initiative extends far beyond the renovation of the ghats alone. The broader vision is to preserve the historical and spiritual heritage of Tribeni while ensuring a safe, clean, accessible, and visitor-friendly environment for pilgrims, tourists, and local residents alike.

The proposed development is expected to improve civic amenities, strengthen riverfront management, enhance environmental conservation, and create better public infrastructure capable of accommodating the growing number of visitors during major religious gatherings and festivals.

Officials also believe that the project has the potential to generate new opportunities for tourism, local businesses, and employment while contributing to the economic development of the region. Improved infrastructure and better visitor facilities are expected to encourage more pilgrims and tourists to visit the historic confluence, benefiting the local community.
