BJP demands NIA investigation in Egra Blast case

IIE Digital Desk :  Kolkata, 16 May 2023: An explosion happend in an illegal Fire-works factory in Khadikul area of Egra in East Midnapore on Tuesday afternoon. Five people died till afternoon in that incident. Seven people were seriously injured. The state BJP has pointed the finger at the state government over the incident of the blast. The BJP has demanded an investigation by the NIA (National Investigation Agency) into the Egra blast. State president of the party Sukanta Majumder complained, "Preparations for panchayat polls were going on. He said that he has written a letter to Union Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah in this regard.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also said that she has no objection to the NIA investigation. She has no problem if someone gets justice in that investigation. However, the chief minister also said that the demand for an investigation by the central agency is a 'formula' of the BJP leaders. In Mamata's words, "My friends, who are shouting NIA NIA, I have no objection. Because none of us are involved in this matter. If anyone is really investigated by the NIA, they will be prosecuted.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has initiated necessary investigations into the Agra blast. CID has been entrusted with the investigation. He has no problem if the NIA investigates after that. But the Chief Minister has given a condition. In his words, "Even if the NIA investigates, the real culprits will be caught." How the factory owner got bail, how the closed factory was reopened, must be seen. The chief minister said that the owner of the betting factory was arrested in 2022. Later he got bail from the court. Mamata also raised the question of how she got bail.

Starting from Kaliaganj minor gang-rape to Ramnavmi unrest, BJP has demanded investigation by the Central Investigation Agency, this time they have also demanded an investigation by the NIA in the Egra incident. However, this is the first time Mamata has not expressed her anger and said that she has no objection.

But that did not calm the attack of the opponents. Regarding this incident, Sukanth claimed that this incident did not happen in any state of India. In his words, "Trinamool has built bomb-gun factories in the entire state. This is the industry of West Bengal. The Chief Minister has no shame. State law and order has reached this place.
