IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, May 8 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata on Friday morning and immediately visited the revered Dakshineswar Kali Temple, where he offered prayers to Maa Bhavatarini. His visit comes at a politically significant moment following the recent West Bengal political developments, with the BJP reportedly moving ahead in government formation discussions.

Shah landed at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport shortly after 11 am, where he was received by senior leaders of the West Bengal BJP. From the airport, he proceeded directly to Dakshineswar Temple, one of the most important spiritual landmarks in the city, marking the symbolic start of his two-day visit.

The Union Home Minister is scheduled to travel to a hotel in New Town, where he will hold a series of internal discussions with party leaders. Security arrangements across Kolkata, particularly in and around Dakshineswar and New Town, have been significantly tightened in view of the Union Home Minister’s visit. Authorities have deployed additional personnel to ensure smooth movement and maintain law and order during his high-profile engagements.
