IIE Digital Desk : U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a speech in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that garnered significant attention. Addressing a gathering of global business leaders and dignitaries, Trump turned to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) and asked, "Mohammed, do you sleep at night? How do you sleep?" The unexpected question elicited laughter and applause from the audience, with MBS responding with a smile and a nod. 

Trump's remark was interpreted by many as a compliment to MBS's relentless efforts in transforming Saudi Arabia into a global economic hub. He praised the Crown Prince's leadership, stating, "Critics doubted it was possible, what you've done, but over the past eight years, Saudi Arabia has proved the critics totally wrong." 

The speech also highlighted the strengthening ties between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. Trump announced the lifting of sanctions on Syria, attributing the decision to requests from MBS and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He quipped, "Oh, what I do for the crown prince," emphasizing the close relationship between the two nations.

Human rights advocates pointed out the absence of any mention of the 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a topic that has strained U.S.-Saudi relations in the past.
