The research, which tracked over 420,000 adults for more than a decade, found that individuals who walked briskly—defined as over 4 miles per hour—had a 43% lower risk of developing heart rhythm issues compared to those who walked slowly (under 3 mph). Even those walking at an average pace (3–4 mph) experienced a 35% reduction in risk .

The study highlighted that brisk walking not only benefits individuals without existing health conditions but also offers protective effects for those with chronic illnesses. Women under 60 with a healthy weight were found to gain the most from brisk walking, though the advantages were evident across various demographics.
