‘They Changed the Impossible’: Kiran Rao Celebrates Gen Z’s Impact After Dharmendra Pradhan’s Exit

IIE DIGITAL: The resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following nationwide protests over the alleged NEET paper leak has triggered reactions from several personalities across the country. While many Bollywood celebrities expressed their support for the student movement, actor Aamir Khan has so far remained silent on the issue. However, his former wife and filmmaker Kiran Rao openly praised the young protesters and credited Gen Z for achieving what many considered impossible.

The month-long protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, led by students demanding accountability over the examination controversy, had included the resignation of the Education Minister among its major demands. After Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down on Saturday, several celebrities took to social media to share their views and stand in support of the protesters.

Kiran Rao shared a picture of the Indian Constitution on social media and praised the determination of the younger generation. She wrote that Gen Z had managed to turn an unlikely outcome into reality through their confidence, intelligence, humour and compassion.

Expressing her admiration, Kiran said that the young protesters had restored hope and deserved respect for their courage and commitment. She also thanked them for showing a new way of raising voices and bringing attention to important issues.

Kiran also extended appreciation to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which played a key role in organising the protest movement. She described their leadership as courageous and urged people to continue the journey towards unity and freedom.

This is not the first time Kiran Rao has shown support for the movement. Earlier, she had backed climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike and expressed solidarity with the protesting students.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan has not made any public comment regarding the protests or Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. During the agitation, discussions also resurfaced around Sonam Wangchuk’s connection with Aamir’s iconic character Phunsukh Wangdu from 3 Idiots. However, Aamir had reportedly clarified that the popular belief linking the character directly with Wangchuk was not accurate.

Several other Bollywood personalities had supported the student movement from the beginning. Actors including Sonakshi Sinha, Shabana Azmi, Prakash Raj and Naseeruddin Shah voiced their support for the protesters and highlighted the importance of addressing concerns related to the education system.

The development has once again brought attention to the growing influence of youth-led movements and the role of social media in shaping public conversations.
