
IIE DIGITAL: Actress Priyanka Chopra has opened up about her experience of working with SS Rajamouli on his upcoming film Varanasi, describing the project as an epic journey that has been in the making for over a year.
Varanasi stars Mahesh Babu,
Prithviraj Sukumaran and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. The film also marks
Priyanka's return to Indian cinema after 2019's The Sky Is Pink,
which co-starred Farhan Akhtar.

During a conversation on the Hey Jonas podcast, singer-actor Nick Jonas asked Priyanka to share an update on her upcoming film. Speaking about the project, Priyanka described it as "an epic adventure" and revealed that she has been working on the film for over a year. "I have been working on it for about 14 months now. But SS Rajamouli is known to take that kind of time to make movies. He called me for this movie and it's this epic adventure around the world and in time." Teasing the film's action sequences, she added: "It has taken a minute but I am so excited about it. I do so many amazing slow-motion jumps in it and that's all I can say about it."
About Varanasi
Written by Vijayendra Prasad, Varanasi is billed as a time-travel adventure that blends Indian mythology, history and science fiction. The film marks SS Rajamouli's first collaboration with Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran.Production on the film began in the month of April, 2025, with filming reportedly taking place in Kenya and Andhra Pradesh's Borra Caves. Earlier this year, Varanasi launched its global promotional campaign with a panel at CCXP in Mexico, where previously unseen footage from the film was unveiled. Varanasi is scheduled to release in theatres in the month of April, 2027.
