IIE Digital Desk: Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, the winner of ‘Bigg Boss 17’, addressed allegations of a rigged victory in the popular show in an ETimes interview. Responding to those labelling him as the 'pre-determined winner,' he suggested that those making such claims should watch the entire season to understand the level of scrutiny he endured. He also acknowledged that while he initially wished to alter people's perceptions of him before joining ‘Bigg Boss 17’, he now realizes that he cannot change their opinions.

Munawar Faruqui said, ‘Yaar fixed winner ko itna sab go through karna pade toh it can’t be a fixed winner (If one has to go through so much scrutiny as a supposed fixed winner, then it can't truly be a fixed winner). If I would have been a fixed winner I would have got everything on a platter. Pura season gawah hai (The whole season if proof) that I’ve got nothing on a platter, I’ve worked hard and a lot. My answer to people, who are calling me a fixed winner is – ‘Just sit and watch the entire season and you will realise that it wasn’t fixed’.’

He added, ‘Having said that, people can have that feeling because, when you have a strong fanbase, and you do such reality shows a lot of things are at stake and you lose a few things. To win things, then you give it your best. Mujhe lagta hai ye pyaar hai logon ka (I think I won because of people's love), and people who are calling me me fixed winner, I can’t change their opinion. Maybe before going to Bigg Boss I would have wanted to change perceptions, but now I feel I can’t change everyone.’

Shortly after Munawar Faruqui's victory in 'Bigg Boss,' actor Abhishek Kumar, the first runner-up, became a trending topic on X (formerly Twitter). Some viewers expressed the opinion that Abhishek was more deserving of the trophy than Munawar. However, reports suggest that Munawar secured a substantial lead in votes to win the trophy.

Actor Mannara Chopra claimed the third position, while actor Ankita Lokhande finished fourth in 'Bigg Boss 17.'

In addition to the 'Bigg Boss 17' trophy, Munawar received a lavish new car and a generous cash prize of ₹50 lakh. This marks Munawar's second reality show victory, following his win in 'Lock Upp' season 1 in 2022.

Abhishek warmly embraced Munawar after the latter was declared the winner by actor-host Salman Khan in the 'Bigg Boss 17' grand finale on January 28.
