IIE DIGITAL: The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the indicative notification for the much-awaited Junior Engineer (JE) Recruitment 2026 under Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) 04/2026. Through this recruitment drive, Indian Railways aims to fill 4,098 vacancies across various posts, including Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA).

According to the preliminary notice, the online application process is expected to begin on August 14, 2026, and continue until September 13, 2026. However, both dates are tentative and the final schedule will be confirmed through the detailed recruitment notification.

The recruitment will be conducted for Level 6 posts under the 7th Central Pay Commission. Selected candidates will receive an initial basic salary of Rs 35,400 per month along with other applicable railway allowances and benefits.

The detailed notification, which will include information on eligibility criteria, educational qualifications, selection process, examination pattern, syllabus and region-wise vacancies, is expected to be released soon on the official websites of the Railway Recruitment Boards.

Candidates applying for the RRB JE 2026 recruitment must meet the prescribed age criteria. As per the short notice, applicants should be between 18 and 33 years of age as on January 1, 2027. Further details regarding educational requirements and category-wise eligibility will be announced in the final notification.

The available positions include Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant posts across different RRB zones. The recruitment drive is expected to attract a large number of engineering graduates seeking career opportunities in Indian Railways.

RRBs have also advised applicants to complete Aadhaar verification while submitting their application forms. Candidates should ensure that their Aadhaar details, including name and date of birth, match the information mentioned in their Class 10 certificates to avoid issues during document verification.

Applicants have also been advised to update their Aadhaar records with the latest photograph and biometric details before registration.

The Railway Recruitment Boards have clarified that the current announcement is only an indicative notice and not the final recruitment advertisement. The complete CEN 04/2026 notification containing all rules, eligibility conditions, application process and examination details will be published before the registration window opens.

With over 4,000 vacancies on offer, the RRB JE Recruitment 2026 is expected to be a major opportunity for engineering candidates aspiring to join Indian Railways.
