IIE Digital Desk : The Indian stock markets hit record highs on Wednesday, tracking strong gains in global markets. The Sensex closed at 63,601.71, up 200 points, while the Nifty closed at 18,900.45, up 50 points.
The gains were broad-based, with all 15 sectoral indices ending in the green. The biggest gainers were the IT index, up 2.2%, and the banking index, up 1.8%. The gains were driven by strong global cues. Asian markets were all trading higher, led by gains in Japan and China. US stock futures were also pointing to a higher opening. FII inflows also supported the market. Foreign investors bought shares worth Rs 2,240 crore on Wednesday.
