WHO Team to Visit Malda After Bird Flu Case Detected in Child
IIE Digital Desk : A four-year-old child in Malda's Manikchak has tested positive for bird flu, prompting a visit from WHO and health department officials on Thursday. The child, initially hospitalized in February with severe symptoms, was found infected with the H9N2 strain of the virus. The child has since recovered. Officials have tested 29,000 poultry in the area, finding no further infections. The child's family kept poultry, suspected to be the infection source. Ongoing investigations aim to prevent further spread.
