Serampore's New Plastic Policy: Rewards for Compliance, Fines for Violations
IIE Digital Desk : Serampore Municipality has introduced a dual policy to control plastic usage, offering both rewards and penalties. Starting Friday, six municipalities in the area, including Dankuni, Uttarpara-Kotrung, Konnagar, Rishra, Serampore, and Baidyabati, will enforce the ban on thin plastic carry bags. Regular patrols and public awareness campaigns will be conducted. Compliance will be rewarded, potentially with license renewal benefits, while violations will result in fines. The initiative aims to reduce environmental damage and drainage issues caused by plastic waste.
