IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kharagpur, August 1: The travel requirements of candidates appearing for the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Computer-Based Test (CBT), the Kharagpur Division of the South Eastern Railway has announced the operation of three pairs of special MEMU trains between Howrah and Rupsa. The special train services will operate on selected dates in August to ensure smooth and convenient transportation for thousands of candidates travelling to and from their examination centres.

According to an official press release issued by the railway authorities, Train No. 08001 and Train No. 08003 Howrah–Rupsa Special MEMU trains will depart from Howrah at 6:00 pm and 11:55 pm, respectively. The two trains will reach Rupsa at 10:40 pm and 5:35 am the following morning. These special services will run on August 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13.

In addition, Train No. 08005 Howrah–Rupsa Special MEMU will leave Howrah at 8:30 am and arrive at Rupsa at 1:00 pm. This train has been scheduled to operate on August 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14, providing another convenient option for examination candidates travelling during the recruitment process.

For the return journey, Train No. 08002 Rupsa–Howrah Special MEMU will depart from Rupsa at 12:45 pm and arrive at Howrah at 5:20 pm. Train No. 08004 will leave Rupsa at 4:25 pm and reach Howrah at 9:10 pm, while Train No. 08006 will depart from Rupsa at 8:20 pm and arrive at Howrah at 1:00 am the following day.

All three return services will operate on August 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14, ensuring adequate transportation facilities for candidates completing their examinations and returning home.

The railway authorities have also confirmed that all the special MEMU trains will halt at Mecheda, Panskura, Kharagpur, and Jaleswar stations during their journey, allowing candidates from different regions to conveniently board and deboard the trains.

South Eastern Railway stated that the decision has been taken to ease passenger movement during the Railway Recruitment Board examinations, which witness a large number of candidates travelling across states. By introducing these special MEMU services, the railway administration aims to reduce travel difficulties, accommodate the expected surge in passenger demand, and ensure that candidates can reach their examination centres safely, comfortably, and on time.

The initiative reflects the Railways' continued commitment to facilitating smooth travel arrangements during major recruitment examinations and supporting candidates through additional transport services whenever required. The special trains are expected to significantly benefit aspirants appearing for the RRB Computer-Based Test by providing reliable and timely connectivity between Howrah and Rupsa during the examination period.
