IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Howrah, June 5: The strong protest was staged outside the residence of Bagnan MLA Arunava Sen in Howrah on Friday, where a large group of women gathered holding brooms and shoes, demanding his immediate arrest over corruption allegations.

Around 11 am, more than a hundred women assembled outside the Trinamool Congress legislator’s house. The protesters raised slogans and expressed anger, accusing the MLA of being involved in multiple corruption cases. Many of them were seen holding his photographs and symbolically hitting them with shoes and brooms as a mark of protest.

The women alleged that the MLA was involved in irregularities linked to government welfare schemes, including claims of taking commissions from funds under the housing scheme. They demanded strict action and immediate arrest, intensifying their protest outside his residence.

Police later reached the spot and intervened after speaking to the protesters, which helped bring the situation under control. However, tension remained in the area for some time due to the large gathering and heated slogans.

Despite repeated attempts by media personnel, the MLA did not respond or make any public statement regarding the allegations or the protest outside his house.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the accusations, while the incident has added to ongoing political tension in the region.
