Legendary Baul Singer Sadhan Das Bairagi Passes Away
West Bengal (July 24,2023) : Sadhan Das Bairagi, a renowned Baul singer, passed away on Monday at the age of 83. He was suffering from a prolonged illness. Bairagi was born in Muktapur in West Bengal in 1939. He started singing Baul songs at a young age and quickly gained popularity for his soulful voice and melodious tunes. He performed all over India and abroad, and his songs were loved by people of all ages.
Bairagi was a recipient of the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India. He was also awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, the highest Indian award in the field of performing arts. His death is a major loss to the Baul community and to the world of music. He will be remembered for his beautiful songs and his contribution to Indian culture.
