IIE DIGITAL DESK : The recent explosion in Madhyamgram, a town in North 24 Parganas district, has raised concerns among local authorities and residents. The incident occurred late Sunday night near the Madhyamgram High School, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old man. Preliminary investigations suggest that the individual was from Uttar Pradesh and was carrying an improvised explosive device (IED) in his bag, which detonated unexpectedly. The blast is believed to have been caused by a low-intensity IED.
The local MLA and West Bengal's Food Minister, Rathin Ghosh, visited the site on Monday morning to assess the situation. He expressed his concerns, stating that the incident might be an attempt to disrupt the peaceful environment of Madhyamgram. Ghosh emphasized that the police are investigating the matter, but he suspects that the explosion was orchestrated to create unrest in the area.
In response to the incident, forensic teams and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have been deployed to the site to collect samples and investigate the origins of the explosive device. Authorities are working to determine the individual's identity, the source of the explosives, and the intended target of the attack.
