
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Sandeshkhali, June 4: The large quantity of government relief materials, including blankets, tarpaulins, and other supplies, has been recovered from a fishery shed in the South Akratal Boro Para area of Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas, triggering widespread concern in the locality.
The discovery was made on Thursday morning after they conducted a search at a fishery owned by a person named Janab Ali based on suspicion. Locals claim that they had long suspected government supplies being stored secretly at the site during nighttime hours.
The search, residents reportedly found a significant stockpile of relief materials and immediately informed the Nazat police station. Police and personnel of the central forces soon reached the spot and took custody of all recovered items.
So far, no arrests or detentions have been made in connection with the incident, police sources confirmed.
Local allegations suggest that the fishery owner Janab Ali is closely associated with a local Trinamool Congress panchayat member, Anand Sardar, and that the recovered materials may be linked to him. However, there has been no official response from Anand Sardar regarding these accusations.
Residents of the area have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and strict action against those found responsible for the alleged misappropriation of government relief materials.
