IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Nandigram, October 6: Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari travelled to the polling station in a toto to cast his vote in the Nandigram Assembly by-election on Tuesday. Voting is underway in the two Assembly constituencies of Nandigram and Rejinagar on Tuesday, with both seats witnessing considerable political interest.

Adhikari cast his vote at Nandanyekbar Primary School in Nandigram. After exercising his franchise, he followed the Election Commission's guidelines and refrained from making any comments related to the election within 200 metres of the polling station.

The Chief Minister walked for around 200 metres after coming out of the polling station before speaking to the media. Once he had moved beyond the restricted area, he addressed reporters and spoke about his long-standing connection with Nandigram and the locality where he cast his vote.

Speaking to journalists, Adhikari said that he was committed to remaining a voter of Nandanyekbar for the rest of his life. "My commitment is that I will keep my name on the voter list of Nandanyekbar for the rest of my life. I will remain a voter here forever," he said.

His decision to travel to the polling station by toto drew attention as voting continued in Nandigram. The Chief Minister's arrival at the polling centre came amid tight security arrangements, with election officials and security personnel maintaining strict vigilance around the polling station.

The Nandigram by-election is being closely watched, with voting taking place alongside the Rejinagar by-election in Murshidabad. Security has been strengthened across both constituencies to ensure that voters can exercise their franchise peacefully.

After casting his vote, Adhikari's remarks about retaining his place on the Nandanyekbar voter list for life highlighted his personal and political connection with the area. His statement also became a talking point among those gathered outside the polling station and the journalists covering the election.

Polling in Nandigram began in the morning amid security arrangements, with voters turning up at polling stations from the early hours. Election authorities have deployed security personnel at sensitive locations and are closely monitoring the situation throughout the constituency.

With voting continuing in Nandigram and Rejinagar, all eyes remain on the polling process and the developments emerging from the two politically significant constituencies.
