IIE DIGITAL DESK :Tension prevailed in Malda on Friday as a large number of BJP workers and leaders surrounded the District Magistrate’s office, accusing the administration of political bias and negligence. The protest, led by senior BJP leader and former state president Dilip Ghosh, drew hundreds of party supporters who demanded transparency and fairness in local governance.

Raising slogans against the district administration, BJP workers alleged that the ruling party was misusing administrative machinery to suppress the opposition, especially in the run-up to the upcoming elections. The protesters claimed that complaints made by BJP supporters regarding voter intimidation, irregularities in beneficiary schemes, and biased law enforcement had been routinely ignored by the local authorities.

Dilip Ghosh, while addressing the gathering outside the DM office, expressed his strong displeasure with what he described as a "complete collapse of administrative neutrality." He accused the district officials of acting as agents of the ruling Trinamool Congress and warned that the BJP would intensify its agitation if corrective measures were not taken immediately.

The situation remained peaceful but tense, with heavy police deployment in the area to prevent any untoward incidents. Barricades were placed around the DM office, and senior police officers were seen engaging with BJP leaders to keep the situation under control.

Local residents watched as the protest unfolded, with many expressing concern over the increasing politicization of the administration. The district administration, meanwhile, has not released an official statement on the matter, though sources indicate that talks may be initiated to address the grievances raised.

The BJP's protest in Malda highlights the rising political tension in the region, with opposition leaders becoming increasingly vocal about alleged discrimination and lack of administrative fairness.
