Raigunj (July 12,2023) : BJP MP Debasree Chaudhuri and her party men have been accused of beating up a block development officer (BDO) in West Bengal over allegations of vote rigging.

The incident took place on Wednesday in the Canning block of South 24 Parganas district. The BDO, identified as Tapan Banerjee, was allegedly beaten up by Chaudhuri and her supporters after he refused to allow them to interfere in the election process. Banerjee has filed a complaint with the police, who have registered a case against Chaudhuri and her supporters. The police are investigating the matter.

Chaudhuri has denied the allegations, saying that she was only trying to protect the interests of her voters. She has said that she will cooperate with the police investigation. The incident has sparked outrage in West Bengal, with the opposition TMC accusing the BJP of resorting to violence to win elections. The TMC has called for Chaudhuri's arrest.

The BJP has also been accused of violence in other parts of West Bengal during the panchayat elections. The party has denied the allegations, saying that they are being made by the TMC to tarnish its image. The panchayat elections in West Bengal are being held in eight phases, with the last phase scheduled to be held on July 29. The results of the elections will be announced on August 3.
