IIE DIGITAL DESK : Bhatpara, May 11: Tension gripped Anandnagar in Bhatpara after a bag containing several fresh bombs was recovered from a bush in the area on Monday morning. The incident occurred in Ward No. 35 under the Jagaddal Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district, triggering widespread panic among local residents.

Locals first noticed a suspicious bag lying inside a roadside bush and immediately informed the police. Acting swiftly on the information, officers from Bhatpara Police Station rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Given the seriousness of the situation, central forces were also deployed to ensure security and prevent any untoward incident.

Police officials confirmed that multiple crude bombs were found inside the bag. The entire area was sealed off, and a thorough search operation was launched. Residents expressed concern over how such a large quantity of explosives could be stored in a densely populated locality without detection.

To avoid any potential danger, police cleared the area and kept civilians at a safe distance from the recovery site. The bomb disposal squad was informed, and the process of safely defusing the explosives was initiated.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine who was responsible for stockpiling the bombs and whether any organized criminal group or miscreants were involved. The motive behind storing the explosives in the area is also being examined.

The incident has raised serious questions about security and surveillance in residential neighborhoods. Police have assured that strict action will be taken against those found responsible as the investigation progresses.
