IIE DIGITAL DESK ; New Delhi, June 5: Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi is preparing to introduce its first-ever Turbo series smartphone in the Indian market, and fresh reports suggest that the highly anticipated Redmi Turbo 5 could make its debut in the country very soon. The device, which has already generated significant buzz among smartphone enthusiasts, is expected to launch alongside the rumored Redmi 17 5G, marking a major expansion of Redmi’s product lineup in India.

The Redmi Turbo 5 is likely to be unveiled in mid-June, with June 18 being tipped as the probable launch date. While Redmi has not yet officially confirmed the exact date, teaser campaigns have already begun, indicating that the company is gearing up for a major launch event. The smartphone is expected to be sold through Amazon India as well as Xiaomi’s official online store following its launch.

Redmi has already teased the design of the upcoming handset, revealing a sleek flat-back panel with a dual-camera setup positioned in the upper-left corner. Promotional material also suggests that the device will be available in at least a black color option. The overall design appears to closely resemble the version that was launched earlier this year in China.

Industry sources indicate that the Indian variant of the Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to retain most of the specifications of its Chinese counterpart. The smartphone is rumored to feature a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, HDR10+ certification, and peak brightness reaching up to 3,500 nits. These specifications position the device as a performance-focused offering aimed at gamers and power users.

The Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, paired with high-speed LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. The device is also tipped to include a large 7,560mAh battery with support for 100W wired fast charging, making it one of the most battery-focused smartphones in its segment.

In terms of photography, the handset is likely to feature a 50-megapixel primary rear camera accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. For selfies and video calls, a 20-megapixel front-facing camera is expected. The phone may also offer advanced durability features, including multiple dust and water resistance certifications.

The Redmi Turbo 5 was initially launched in China in January 2026 with a starting price of CNY 2,299 for the base variant featuring 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Although Indian pricing has not yet been announced, industry observers expect the smartphone to be positioned competitively in the upper mid-range segment.

Powerful chipset, massive battery, premium display technology, and fast charging capabilities, the Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to intensify competition in India's performance smartphone market. As anticipation builds ahead of the official launch, consumers are eagerly awaiting confirmation of pricing, availability, and the complete feature set of Redmi’s newest offering.
