Despite the defeat against Brazil, Scotland still retained hopes of reaching the knockout stage depending on results elsewhere and qualification criteria for the best-performing teams outside the automatic qualification spots.

Morocco, the victory represented another significant step forward as they continue to build on the momentum generated by their historic run to the semifinals in the previous World Cup.
