IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Barcelona, June 6: Spanish league authorities announced on Friday that Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has been named La Liga Player of the Season following an outstanding campaign.

The 18-year-old played a pivotal role in helping Barcelona retain their domestic league title and became the first player to win the La Liga Player of the Month award three times in a single season. Yamal finished the campaign as the club’s leading scorer in the league, registering 16 goals and 11 assists in a remarkable individual performance.

The recognition comes a day after Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was named Coach of the Season, underlining the club’s dominance during the campaign.

Yamal, who spent periods on the sidelines this season due to recurring groin problems, is expected to regain full fitness in time to represent Spain at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is set to begin next week across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The young star missed Barcelona’s final six matches of the season because of a hamstring injury, but his contributions throughout the campaign proved decisive in the club’s successful title defense.

Yamal burst onto the international football scene at the age of 16 and quickly established himself as one of the brightest talents in world football. He was also an integral part of Spain’s historic triumph at the 2024 UEFA European Championship, helping the nation secure a record fourth European title.
