IIE Digital Desk: The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued a notice to Preeti Chandra, wife of former Unitech promoter Sanjay Chandra, on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) plea challenging a Delhi High Court order granting her interim protection from arrest in a money laundering case.

A bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud issued notice to Preeti Chandra and sought her response within four weeks. The bench also asked the ED to file a status report on the case.

The ED had filed the plea in the Supreme Court after the Delhi High Court on May 26 granted interim protection from arrest to Preeti Chandra in the money laundering case.

The ED had registered a money laundering case against Sanjay Chandra and others in 2016, based on a CBI FIR filed against them for allegedly cheating homebuyers in a number of projects.

The ED has alleged that Preeti Chandra was involved in the money laundering activities of her husband and others. The Supreme Court will now hear the ED's plea on July 11.
