IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Dehradun, September 24: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday flagged off multiple mountaineering expeditions organised by the renowned Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi. The expeditions were formally launched during a special programme held in Dehradun on Thursday morning.

The event highlighted the importance of professional training, research and innovation in the field of mountaineering. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dhami praised the contribution of both the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering (JIM) and the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in promoting mountaineering and developing skilled climbers.

Dhami said both institutions have been playing an important role in exploring new mountaineering techniques and routes, undertaking research related to the challenging field and providing quality training to young people interested in the mountains. He underlined the importance of strengthening expertise and knowledge in mountaineering to help aspiring climbers take on increasingly challenging expeditions.

The Chief Minister also noted that both institutions have achieved several significant milestones in recent years. According to Dhami, the institutes have contributed to successful ascents of several new peaks while continuing their work in training and developing mountaineers.

Highlighting the role of young climbers in taking the state's mountaineering legacy forward, Dhami extended his best wishes to all those who have received training from these institutions and are pursuing careers in the adventure sport. He expressed hope that the trained mountaineers would continue to achieve success in future expeditions and bring further recognition to Uttarakhand's strong mountaineering tradition.

The formal flag-off ceremony marked the beginning of the latest expeditions and provided an opportunity to recognise the efforts of the institutions involved in mountaineering training and exploration. The programmes organised by NIM are aimed at providing participants with practical experience in challenging mountain environments while promoting professional skills and safety awareness.

Uttarakhand, known for its Himalayan landscape and extensive mountaineering potential, has long been an important destination for adventure activities and mountaineering training.
