IIE digital desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has implicated Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a charge sheet related to the excise policy scam. The charge sheet alleges that Kejriwal played a direct role in the irregularities surrounding the implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

According to the CBI, Kejriwal's involvement includes undue influence and manipulation of policy decisions, benefiting select liquor licensees and causing significant revenue losses to the state exchequer. The investigative agency claims that Kejriwal's actions were pivotal in orchestrating the scam, which has drawn widespread criticism and demands for accountability.

The charge sheet further mentions that Kejriwal allegedly held meetings with key stakeholders and facilitated the creation of policies that favored certain business entities. These actions have raised questions about the transparency and integrity of his administration.

In response, Kejriwal has dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, asserting that the investigation is part of a vendetta against his government. He maintains that the excise policy was implemented with the aim of increasing state revenue and promoting fair business practices.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the allegations against Kejriwal are expected to have significant political ramifications, potentially impacting his leadership and the Aam Aadmi Party's standing in Delhi and beyond.
