Kolkata (July 11.2023) : Two people attempted suicide by jumping in front of an up-metro at MG Road Station in Kolkata on Tuesday. The incident took place around 11:30 am. The first person, a 25-year-old man, was rescued by Metro Railway staff and taken to a hospital. He is said to be in a critical condition. The second person, a 30-year-old woman, was hit by the metro and died on the spot.

Police are investigating the matter. They suspect that both the victims were suffering from depression. This is the second suicide attempt at MG Road Station in the last two months. In May, a 22-year-old woman jumped in front of a metro and died. The increasing number of suicide attempts at metro stations in Kolkata has raised concerns about the mental health of people in the city.
