IIE DIGITAL DESK : Trinamool Congress leader and former West Bengal minister Sujit Bose appeared at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Kolkata on Monday, marking his first appearance before the central agency after the announcement of election results. He was accompanied by his legal counsel during the questioning.

Sujit Bose has been summoned in connection with the alleged municipal recruitment scam case. This is not the first time he has been called for questioning in the matter. He had previously appeared before the ED on May 1. However, his latest appearance on May 11 is significant as it comes after the completion of the recent elections and the declaration of results on May 4.

The ED had issued multiple summons to the Trinamool Congress leader, who was also contesting from the Bidhannagar constituency. However, he was unable to attend earlier hearings due to election-related responsibilities and had informed the court about his unavailability during that period.

Following legal proceedings, he later appeared at the ED office located at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake as directed by the Calcutta High Court.

The investigation is part of a wider probe into alleged irregularities in municipal recruitment, which has seen several political figures being questioned by central agencies. The case continues to be under active investigation, and further questioning or summons may follow based on the findings of the agency.
