IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata, March 26: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday extended her greetings on the occasion of Ram Navami and Annapurna Puja, appealing to citizens across the state to maintain peace, harmony, and order amid widespread religious celebrations. In a message posted on her official X handle, the Chief Minister conveyed her heartfelt wishes and emphasized the importance of ensuring that all festivities are conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.

Ram Navami message, Mamata Banerjee greeted people on the auspicious occasion and expressed hope that all programmes organized to mark the festival would conclude successfully and without disruption. She urged citizens to uphold the values of peace, prosperity, and all-round development, stressing that social harmony remains essential during religious observances. Her appeal comes at a time when Ram Navami is being celebrated across the state with processions, rituals, and public gatherings.

The Chief Minister also extended warm wishes for Annapurna Puja. In her post, she invoked Goddess Annapurna as the giver of nourishment and remover of sorrow, offering greetings to devotees observing the festival. Her message reflected a tone of inclusivity, acknowledging multiple religious traditions being observed simultaneously across the state.

Throughout West Bengal, various events have been organized to mark Ram Navami. In several districts, rallies and processions were taken out, while in other places devotees organized Kalash Yatras and special pujas dedicated to Lord Ram. Large gatherings were reported in multiple urban and semi-urban areas as people participated in devotional programmes.

Concerns over maintaining law and order surfaced during a Ram Navami procession in New Town, where allegations of weapon display were raised. Reports indicated that tensions escalated briefly when police intervened to regulate the procession, leading to a heated exchange between organizers and law enforcement officials. Authorities later confirmed that the situation was brought under control and no major untoward incident occurred.

Against this backdrop, the Chief Minister’s message underscored the need for restraint and collective responsibility to prevent any unpleasant occurrences during the celebrations. She reiterated her appeal for communal harmony and emphasized that peaceful observance of festivals reflects the state’s cultural strength and unity.

With religious programmes continuing in different parts of Bengal, the administration remains on alert to ensure that all events proceed smoothly. Mamata Banerjee’s call for peace and discipline aims to reinforce the importance of maintaining social cohesion during large-scale public festivities.
