Jump from 5,000 to 8,000 in one go; Chief Minister makes major announcement regarding this scheme.

IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, October 5: Durga Puja, the state government has increased financial assistance under several schemes and departments, bringing relief to a large section of people. On Monday, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced from Nabanna that the monthly financial assistance under the Karmabandhu Scheme has been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000.

The Karmabandhu Scheme primarily covers workers engaged with the Land and Land Revenue Department and the Agriculture Department. The allowance for these workers was introduced during the earlier Trinamool Congress government. Initially, the monthly remuneration for the post was Rs 2,000. The government had subsequently increased it by Rs 3,000, taking the monthly remuneration to Rs 5,000.

Following the change of government and the BJP coming to power, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has now announced another increase under the same scheme. Announcing the decision, Suvendu said, “Under the Karmabandhu Scheme, we have increased the amount from just Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000.”

The state government has also announced a significant increase in financial assistance for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students who stay in hostels for their studies. The revised assistance will come into effect from October.

Previously, these students were provided Rs 1,800. Under the new decision, the allocation has been increased to Rs 3,300. The increase is expected to provide additional financial support to students staying in hostels and pursuing their education.

The same time, the state government has also announced that the ‘Bhagini Nivedita Scheme’ has been approved. The latest announcements have come ahead of Durga Puja, with the government increasing financial assistance under multiple schemes as part of a series of measures announced from Nabanna.
