IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 18: State minister Dilip Ghosh criticised Trinamool Congress leader and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s protest rally opposing hawker evictions.
He said that the government will make roads clear and bring relief to people’s lives, adding that if anyone continues to occupy the roads, it will serve no purpose.
It may be noted that after the recent electoral setback, Mamata Banerjee led a protest rally on Wednesday for the first time. The march started from Lenin Statue in Dharmatala and continued up to Subodh Mullick Square.
Mamata Banerjee’s participation in the protest against hawker eviction, state minister Dileep Ghosh said on Thursday, “Mamata Banerjee is in a situation where she has no party, no workers, and no party office. At this moment, by joining hands with hawkers, she is only trying her last effort to stay in media headlines. She alone is responsible for those hawkers, as she once allowed them to occupy the streets after taking money from them.”
He further added, “The government will clear roads and bring relief to people’s lives. Therefore, if anyone sits on the road, it will not serve any purpose.”
