Kolkata (July 27,2023) : A 11-year-old boy from Kolkata has died of dengue, taking the city's death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to seven this monsoon season. The boy, identified as Joy Biswas, was from the Nandigram area of Howrah district. He was admitted to the National Medical College and Hospital on July 21 with high fever and other symptoms of dengue. He died on Monday, July 25.

This is the second death from dengue in Kolkata in the last two days. On Saturday, a 10-year-old girl from Park Circus died of the disease. The city has seen a sharp rise in dengue cases in recent weeks. As of July 25, there have been over 400 cases of dengue reported in Kolkata this year. Health officials have warned that the number of cases is likely to rise further as the monsoon season progresses. They have urged people to take precautions against mosquito bites, such as using mosquito nets and insect repellent.
